Our Staff
Christian Helping Hands has been blessed. We are an all-volunteer organization since
opening day. For twenty years, this
ministry has become the answer to many wonderful people. People with time, talent and treasure show
up just to say they want to help. They
usually become “regulars.”
Our volunteers have many talents and gifts. Some feel more comfortable interviewing
clients; some are gifted to be bilingual or have moderate computer skills. Others prefer to work the pantry/warehouse,
sorting and stocking food and filling the orders for clients. Some of the male volunteers offer brut
strength for lifting heavy boxes. Some
volunteers enjoy housekeeping duties or keeping the grounds looking nice. Our staff represents a large cross-section
of people from all denomination. They
need not represent a “member-church.”
Some volunteers work the “off-shifts,” quietly and
alone. They collect non-perishable food from the Red Barrels. In the early morning hours, they make daily
runs to collect donated bread products from area grocery stores. Others deliver food collected at their church for our pantry.
For those full-time employed volunteers, weekends
are their special time to give. If
Christian Helping Hands has a special need or event, they sign up, especially
for food drives.
Since July 2, 1984, our volunteers have donated
countless hours to the ministry. We
welcome new volunteers. It is a great
“feel good” experience to contribute to an organization that helps the poor and
working poor in time of crisis.
